SUKABUMI – As many as 25 houses in the Purabaya District, Sukabumi Regency, were submerged flood due to heavy rain, Saturday (13/5/2023) afternoon to evening. Stagnant water also paralyzed traffic flow on the Sukabumi-Sagaranten connecting road.

Purabaya District Disaster Management (P2BK) Officer, Yanto Prayitno said, the areas affected by heavy rains with high intensity were Purabaya Tengah Village RT 01 and 02 RW 03, Purabaya Village, Purabaya District, Sukabumi Regency.

“A total of 12 houses occupied by 12 Heads of Families (KK) with a total of 50 people in RT 02/03 were flooded. Then in RT 01/03, the flood submerged 13 houses filled with 15 families with a total of 58 people. the water is up to the chest of an adult,” Yanto told MNC Portal Indonesia, Sunday (14/3/2023) morning.

Yanto said that the heavy rain which fell from 15.00 WIB to 18.00 WIB resulted in the Sukabumi-Sagaranten road being impassable for motorized vehicles, both two-wheeled and four-wheeled vehicles, until midnight.

“The water level began to recede on Sunday (14/5/2023) at 00.30 WIB and access to roads belonging to the province began to be passed by all vehicles and traffic flow returned to normal. Houses that were submerged in the floods began to recede and residents began to carry out mutual cooperation clean-up. clean in the early hours of the morning,” said Yanto.

When asked about the alleged cause of the flood, Yanto said that since the silting of the river in the Purabaya sub-district, floods have occurred frequently. The overflow of river water is unable to accommodate the high water discharge due to heavy rains with high intensity.

“For the injured and fatalities, thank God there were none. There were also no refugees, only the residents worked together to evacuate items and household furniture that were submerged in the flood to houses that were safe from flooding,” he added.

Since the water level receded at 01.30 WIB, most residents have already cleaned their homes. However, the plan this morning will also be carried out in mutual cooperation for houses that have not been cleaned.
