Kuwait: Two people were arrested for smuggling drugs into Kuwait. They were arrested by General Administration of Narcotics Control Division officials with 25 kilograms of hashish. It is reported that they smuggled drugs into the country with the aim of selling them. The anti-drugs trafficking department had earlier sought permission from the public prosecution. After this, the residence of the accused was searched. Drugs and cash were seized during the search. The accused have confessed to the crime. They have been handed over to the concerned departments for further legal action.

A few days ago, 700 bottles of liquor were seized from a pleasure boat in Kuwait. In the case, the captain of the boat, a native of the Philippines, was sentenced to five years of rigorous imprisonment and his accomplice was sentenced to one year in prison. The liquor was seized from a pleasure boat owned by a social media personality. But because the owner did not know about the liquor smuggling, the owner of the boat was interrogated for several days and then the public prosecution was exempted from the case.

Prominent expatriate businessman, Atlas Group Chairman and film producer Atlas Ramachandran passed away. He was eighty years old. He passed away on Sunday night at Aster Mankhul Hospital in Dubai due to a heart attack. He was being treated here for two days after suffering from chest pain. Atlas Ramachandran is a native of Thrissur Mullassery Madhukkara. Ramachandran was born on July 31, 1941 at Mathukkara Moothedath in Thrissur to the son of late V Kamalakara Menon and late Matukhara Moothedath Rugmaniamma. Atlas Ramachandran started his career as a bank employee.

Ramachandran, who spread successfully while looking at many areas of business, gradually rose to the forefront of prominent Malayalis in the Gulf. He produced the films Vaishali, Sukritam, Dhanam, Vastuhara, Kauravas, Chakoram, Jaya and Vengalam. He has also acted in a few films including Arabikatha, Malabar Wedding, To Harihar Nagar, Subhadram and Anandabhairavi. He has directed the movie Holidays. He also has a film production company named Chandrakanta Films. There is no doubt that Atlas Ramachandran’s is a face that Malayalees will never forget. MM Ramachandran was famous as a gold jewelery businessman who gilded everything he touched. Atlas Ramachandran also had to serve jail time for the debt of crores incurred while the business was going well. Atlas Ramachandran was arrested in August 2015 after failing to repay loans of more than 55 crore dirhams taken from various banks. Atlas Ramachandran was sentenced to three years imprisonment by the Dubai Court. After this, efforts were made for his release including the central government.
