This is the first time that a Malayalam film has been selected for the competition section of Locarno.

Last month, Kunchacko Boban shared the happiness of being selected for the Locarno Film Festival in Switzerland, which is one of the major film festivals in the world. Now, Chakochan has shared the joy of showing the film in the competition section through social media. The film’s Locarno premiere was today. It is also interesting that it was shown as the opening film in the competition category. Along with the pictures, Chakochan noted that the film was screened in a theater where about 2500 movie lovers from different parts of the world were crowded and there was a non-stop applause when the film ended.
Mahesh Narayanan has written and directed the film starring Kunchacko Boban. This is the 75th edition of the Locarno Film Festival. It is also interesting that a film produced by the same banner has achieved this feat on the 75th anniversary of Udaya Pictures. Chakochan had earlier said that he considers this a personal recognition and respect for his grandfather and father. This is the first time that a Malayalam film has been selected for the competition section of Locarno.
Previously directed by Adoor Gopalakrishnan, Nizhalkuth was screened at the Locarno Film Festival. But this was not in the competitive category. Rather, it was in the Special Showcase category. Rituparna Ghosh directed Bengali film Antarmahal has been selected for the Locarno Festival competition category.

On the other hand, Anthaya is the fourth film directed by Mahesh Narayan. Previous films are Take Off, Malik and Cu Soon. Divya Prabha is the heroine of the announcement. The film revolves around a Malayali couple working in a factory in Noida.
