251 students graduated This July 4th as part of the first generation of the Bachelor’s degree in Family and Community Nursing, from the University of Health (Unisa) of Mexico City.

The head of government, Marti Batres led the Ceremony of “Passage of Light”at the Congress Unit of the National Medical Center Siglo XXI, where he congratulated the graduates of the 2021-2024 generation.

The “Paso de la Luz” ceremony represents a symbolic transition of health personnel from classrooms to doctors’ offices, and from libraries to hospital hallways, explained the general director of Quality and Health Education, Jose Luis Garcia Ceja.

In his speech, the head of government highlighted nursing as a vocation with an impact on social well-being.

“It is a job that implies, of course, a personal vocation, the desire to excel academically, but it is also a profession with a particular profile, because it directly impacts the well-being of many other people,” he said.

Additionally, in his message, the capital’s president highlighted the participation of nurses during the pandemic of COVID-19 in the capital, while recognizing the need for mayor personal.

“It was thought that there was enough health personnel, but that was not the case. We were short of many nurses, male and female, doctors, and female physicians to deal with the pandemic. Today, we are still short of many health professionals,” he acknowledged.

The graduation event concluded with the “Paso de la Luz” ceremony and the singing of the Nurses’ anthem.
