from Paola Caruso

Data for Tuesday 19 October. New record of tampons, equal to 662 thousand (there are also those for the green pass). And the positivity rate drops to 0.4% (yesterday 0.7%). At least 18 previous deaths are included in the calculation of the victims. Admissions: -5. Intensive care: -3

I am 2,697 new cases of coronavirus in Italy (yesterday there were 1,597, here the bulletin). It goes up like this at least 4.722.188 the number of people who have contracted the SARS-CoV-2 virus (including recovered and died) since the outbreak began. THE deaths today I’m 70 (yesterday there were 44), counting 18 previous deaths (5 in Lazio, 1 in Campania and 12 in Sicily, as indicated in the notes below), for a total of 131,655 victims from February 2020. People recovered or discharged they are altogether 4.515.987 e 4.442 those that came out of the Covid nightmare today (2,756 yesterday). The positive current – the subjects who have the virus – turn out to be in everything 74.546, equal to -1.817 compared to yesterday (-1.206 the day before).

The swabs and the scenario

I total swabs (molecular and antigenic) were 662.000 – a new absolute record of analyzes processed, a number that also includes those carried out to obtain the green pass and those communicated in addition by a Veneto laboratory, as explained in a note below – or 442,122 more than yesterday when they were 219,878. While the the rate of positivity drops to 0.4
% (the approximation of 0.40%); yesterday it was 0.7%. Here is the map of the contagion in Italy.

More infections in 24 hours than yesterday. As usual, the oscillating curve rises due to a greater number of buffers, after touching the minimum point on Monday. From the comparison with last Tuesday (12 October) – the same day of the week – when they were recorded +2,494 almost with a positive rate of 0.8%, we can see that there is a situation of stability or slight decline (due to the high number of tests): in fact today the number of new infections is higher than that of 12 October. It is true that many tests are done for the green certificate, but the more they do, the easier it is to find positive ones, perhaps even unknowingly asymptomatic.

The Lombardy it has the highest number of newly infected: here there are +412 cases thanks to 146 thousand swabs (a record regional figure) with a rate of 0.3% (here the bulletin). Follows the Lazio which marks +326 cases with a rate of 0.8% calculated on 40,473 swabs (here the bulletin). Many analyzes also in Veneto, equal to over 142 thousand tests, which made it possible to discover +294 cases (rate 0.2%). The lowest figure of the Molise which only registers a new positive, with 301 tests, after two days with zero infections.

The victims

The death toll is sadly high: they are 70 in the bulletin against 44 yesterday. As mentioned above, at least 18 previous deaths reported in the notes by are included in the count three regions: 5 are from Lazio out of 10 today, 1 from Campania out of 4 today and 12 are from Sicily out of 13 today. Four regions have zero bereavement, to which are added the provinces of Trento and Bolzano: these are Liguria, Basilicata, Molise and Valle d’Aosta.

The health system

There is a slight decrease in hospitalizations in each area. The beds occupied in ordinary Covid wards I’m -5 (yesterday +42), for a total of 2,423 hospitalized. The beds occupied in intensive care (TI) are -3 (yesterday +9) – this is the balance between the people who left and those who entered ICU -, bringing the total of the most seriously ill patients to 355, with 27 admissions to resuscitation (yesterday 26).

I vaccinate

The vaccine doses administered are over 87,7 millions. Citizens who have received the second dose are over 43,9 millions (81,40% of the population over 12). 46.2 million people (85.67% of vaccinables) have received at least one single dose, while over 642,000 have had the additional dose. Here the map updated every evening and here the real-time data of the anti Covid-19 vaccines report on the government website.
