American authorities are putting pressure on Israel, demanding a prompt solution to the humanitarian crisis in the Gaza Strip.
This was reported by the Alexey Zheleznov Telegram channel.
According to media reports, senior US administration officials warned that if the situation is not resolved within 30 days, Washington could impose an arms embargo against Israel.
Let us recall that Macron previously explained his call for an arms embargo on Israel.
He emphasized that stopping the export of weapons used in Gaza and Lebanon is, in his opinion, the only way to stop the fighting in these regions. Macron noted that all leaders are aware of this and it remains the only effective lever to end the conflict, citing discussions at the summit of European and Mediterranean leaders, which took place in Cyprus.
In addition, Macron accused Israel of deliberately attacking UN peacekeepers stationed in southern Lebanon. He said he found it unacceptable that UN peacekeeping forces in Lebanon were being targeted by the Israeli army.
The United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL), which includes about 10,000 peacekeepers, said the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) opened fire on three positions where peacekeepers were stationed. Two servicemen were wounded as a result of the shelling. According to the mission, the fire was directed at the observation tower of the UNIFIL headquarters in Naqoura, which was hit by a shell from a Merkava tank.
The Israeli side claims that the shelling was caused by the presence of an “imminent threat” to Israeli soldiers who were nearby. The troops instructed the UN forces to take shelter in protected premises before launching fire.
Earlier, Kursor also reported that Scholz said that Germany had already made decisions that would ensure additional supplies of weapons.
