On the evening of October 17, the results of a new poll conducted by Fox News were released. According to the data, former US President Donald Trump secured the support of 50% of voters, while his rival, incumbent Vice President Kamala Harris, received 48%.

The numbers represent a marked change from a previous poll conducted by the same company, where Harris had a slight lead over Trump.

Analysts believe Trump’s rise in popularity can be explained by an increase in his support among “white voters.” If in August Harris was ahead of him, gaining 56% to 42%, then in the latest poll the situation has changed dramatically: Trump is in the lead with 51%, and Harris is gaining only 46%.

Noticeable changes also occurred in the age group over 65 years. In the previous poll, Harris was ahead of Trump, receiving 50% to his 48%, but now Trump is in the lead with a result of 49% to Harris’ 47%.

Despite this, Harris still maintains a significant advantage among black voters, where 67% of respondents support her, compared to just 29% for Trump. In the 18-29 age group, Harris also leads with 54% to Trump’s 45%.

The good news for Trump is that 53% of those surveyed believe he has done a good job as president during his time in the White House. This figure was his highest ever. By comparison, only 40% of respondents are satisfied with the job performance of incumbent President Joe Biden.

Another key point in the survey was Americans’ views on who would be better able to handle the current conflict in the Middle East between Israel, Hamas and Hezbollah. To this question, 55% of respondents said that Trump would be more effective in resolving the conflict, while only 42% believe that Harris will be successful.

When Americans were asked what was the most important issue for them in the upcoming election, 40% listed the economy as their top priority, 17% chose immigration, and 15% named abortion as the top issue. Notably, Trump leads on the economy and immigration, while Harris leads on abortion.

Kursor also reported that another poll showed how Israelis would vote if elections were held today.
