Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi on Sunday, October 27, announced a new initiative that involves a two-day ceasefire. As part of this initiative, it is planned to release four hostages in exchange for several terrorists.
He noted that within 10 days after the start of the temporary ceasefire, negotiations will be held aimed at achieving permanent peace.
As previously reported, during Shin Bet chief Ronen Bar’s visit to Cairo on Sunday, senior Egyptian officials discussed the proposal. Discontent in Cairo over the leak of information about the Israeli proposal has erupted over the past two days.
Egyptian authorities are expressing concern because they have not yet had time to present their plan to Hamas terrorists in full, and premature disclosure of details could complicate the implementation of the initiative.
Earlier, Kursor wrote that the Saudi A-Sharq TV channel reports that the terrorist organization Hamas is going to present to mediators in Qatar a detailed proposal aimed at immediately ending the conflict and the release of all held hostages in exchange for a certain number of Palestinian prisoners.
Negotiations were held in which mediators from Egypt, Qatar and the United States, as well as representatives of the Israeli side, participated.
In addition, Cursor has already reported that Israel has prepared a list of conditions for achieving a ceasefire in Lebanon, which contains elements that do not comply with UN Security Council Resolution 1701. The list was given to US mediator Amos Hochstein ahead of his trip to Lebanon on Monday, where he intends to discuss terms for a ceasefire.
