29% of technology professionals are currently considering changing jobs

The ‘I Survey on Technological Talent’ carried out by Codemotion affirms that 29% of the professionals who work in the information technology (IT) A job change is currently being considered.

The platform for the professional growth of developers and for companies looking for talent in the technological field has also found that up to 47% of those surveyed indicate their interest in changing jobs within a period of between 1 and 5 years.

On the contrary, 20% point to a period of more than 5 years to seek new job opportunities and up to 19% expect to remain in their position indefinitely.

Codemotion explains that the digitization of companies is a growing trend and more and more companies are looking to update their business and transform it. This advance is reflected in an increase in demand for IT workers.

In this sense, the survey finds that 32% of technology professionals have been directly contacted by companies with a job offer.

It also reveals that among the reasons why these professionals consider a job change is that the majority (53%) consider a salary increase, followed by 33% who would like to change their tasks, 30% who want to be promoted position, or 22% that prioritize the option of teleworking.

Codemotion points out in its study, in addition to the growing importance of technological professionals and the great demand that exists from organizations, that there is a distance between companies and the ‘tech talent’ that they seek so much.

According to this research, it is observed that almost 50% of developers have been directly contacted by companies or have found new opportunities thanks to their own network of acquaintances.

On the other hand, although traditional platforms continue to be the first investment option for companies, only 1 in 3 IT professionals have been hired through direct contact.

Likewise, only 12% of IT workers would like to meet with the HR department when conducting their job interview, compared to 44% who would prefer to chat with a CTO (‘Chief Technology Officer), Lead Tech or with your immediate manager.
