2nd edition of Connect 223: An incentive for the voluntary return of migrants to the fold

On Thursday, March 9, 2023 at the Grand Hotel in Bamako, the activities of the 2th edition of Connect 223. Organized by the International Organization for Migrants (IOM) in partnership with the government and the Union of Ambassadors Association, the 2th edition of Connect 223 was magnified under the theme “Migration, Youth: Together let’s build the future of Mali”. The Minister for Malians living abroad and African integration, Mr. Alhamdou Ag Ilyene chaired the opening ceremony.

“It is with great emotion that I speak on behalf of our organization “the Union of Ambassadors” – which is a youth network, a network of professionals and entrepreneurs with a migration background. Our organization intends to embody, through the course of its members; a positive and constructive migration. Indeed, we have consciously made the choice to do what we call our “Sègin So”, our return to the sources, in this case in Mali, in order to participate in the economic and social development of the country”, declared the vice- President of the Union of Ambassadors, Mrs. Yasmine Cissé during this opening ceremony. And to explain that their association is made up of people who have decided on their own to return to the country to contribute to the construction of the national edifice. This event is therefore intended to be a space for sharing and exchange in support of the National Migration Policy, which consists in making migration an asset for Mali. Joining his voice to that of the vice-president of the Union of Ambassadors and that of the minister, the IOM country representative, Mr. Pascal Reyntjens, will in turn return to the great contribution of Connect 223 in favor of migration. . Because developed in 2019 by the IOM, Connect 223 is a platform that brings together key players in the migration issue and its challenges. This meeting, which recorded a large participation of actors from the migration ecosystem in addition to students and other actors of civil society, gave rise to debates on topics related to the implementation of the Global Compact for Migration. safe, orderly and regular (PMM).
