The number of 5G base stations in China has grown to more than 3.5 million by the end of February 2024, according to the latest data from the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, China Radio reported.
As 5G stations increase, the use of 5G technologies in industries also expands, and the integration of digital technology and the real economy accelerates, the ministry said.
From smart mines to smart factories and logistics, digital technologies are being rapidly and effectively applied across sectors. According to data from the Ministry of Industry, 5G technologies have been integrated into 71 major economic categories in China.
Zhao Zhuguo, chief engineer of the ministry, said the institution will continue to promote the digital transformation of industries and implement the AI Plus initiative to accelerate the new digital-driven industrialization.
“Efforts will also be made to promote the large-scale development of 5G applications to achieve more innovation and positive results,” Zhao added.
