3.9 million Italians are leaving for the June holidays

Time.news – They are 3.9 million Italians who this year choose to go on vacation in June driven by the reduction of infections and by the loosening of containment measures but also by the arrival of heat and the closure of schools. This is what Coldiretti estimates over the weekend that traditionally marks the start of holidays for the citizens of the beautiful country.

The departures of the month are in sharp increase compared to last year (+ 25%) but – underlines Coldiretti – they remain much lower than those before the pandemic. Above all, there is a lack of foreigners waiting for the green pass to arrive from 1 July to encourage the arrival in Italy of at least 28 million European citizens who, before the Covid health emergency, came on holiday in the beautiful country during the summer months.

Particularly relevant in this context is the prospect of the passage, by the end of the month, of all regions in the white zone where, from Monday, 40.9 million people will be found, equal to 69% of the national population. Together with the resumption of all activities, even those in the yellow band that were subject to limitations or closures, particularly relevant is the early end in these regions of the curfew that will be overcome throughout the country on 21 June.

The departures in “low season”, concludes the association, “are particularly appreciated by those who love tranquility and want to stay away from the crowds, especially considering the needs of social distancing to ensure safety, without however renouncing to visit the main places tourist attractions privileged destinations of the June holidays this year there are certainly the over 24 thousand Italian farms which, often located in isolated areas of the countryside in family structures with a limited number of beds and tables and with large open spaces, are perhaps the places where it is easier to ensure compliance with safety measures to defend against contagion outside the domestic walls according to Terranostra and Campagna Amica.

A positive rebound that actually concerns the entire Made in Italy tourism system which consists of 612 thousand companies and represents 10.1% of the national production system, surpassing the manufacturing sector, with 2.7 million workers, 12.6 % of national employment, according to Unioncamere data “.
