Arrested 3 accused sentenced to death
RAB has arrested three death row convicts who escaped from Kashimpur Central Jail in Gazipur from Narayanganj and Munshiganj. RAB-11 media officer ASP Sanad Barua gave this information at a press conference on Thursday (September 5).
They were arrested from Narayanganj and Munshiganj on Wednesday (September 4). Arrested Mosaddek Sadek Ali (32) son of Suruj Mia of Nayagaon area of Araihajar, Narayanganj; Md. Zakaria (32) is the son of Yunus Ali of the same area and Md. Julhas Dewan (45) is the son of Haji Kamal Dewan of Charmuktarpur, Munshiganj Sadar.
According to RAB, on the afternoon of August 6, the prisoners inside the Kashimpur High Security Central Jail revolted. During the uprising, the prisoners tried to break out of the prison and escape. When the prison guards tried to restrain them, the inmates attacked them. At one point, the prisoners breached the perimeter wall of the southern section amid ongoing rioting and were resisted. During this resistance, on the other hand, 203 prisoners escaped by uprooting the electric pole inside and making a ladder on the west side wall and 6 prisoners died due to bullet injuries.
On June 12, 2013, Narayanganj District and Sessions Judge sentenced Mosaddek and Zakaria to death in the murder case. They were sent to Kashimpur High Security Central Jail on June 18, 2013.
The arrested Julhas Dewan was sentenced to death by Munshiganj District and Sessions Judge on October 9, 2018 for child murder. He was sent to Munshiganj District Jail on 16 October 2014 and Kashimpur High Security Central Jail on 26 November 2018.
