They have also announced non-cooperation movement from Sunday. Due to the protest program, the three entrances of Dhaka were blocked at the students’ position. Due to this, traffic on the road has stopped. People who are supporting the movement, including students, are trying to gather in different areas of the capital to carry out the program.

On Saturday (August 3), the agitating students took a stand at Kajala and Shanirakhra sections of Jatrabari on the Dhaka-Chittagong highway to demand 9 points. As a result, all entrances and exits towards Dhaka have been closed. The agitating students are protesting against the casualties in the anti-quota movement across the country and demanding the implementation of 9-point demands.

Meanwhile, the agitating students of Jahangirnagar University protested by blocking the Dhaka-Aricha highway under the banner of anti-discrimination student movement. They stayed on the road around 12:30 pm on Saturday. The students gathered in front of Shaheed Minar of the university after lifting the blockade around 2 pm. As a result traffic on the Dhaka-Aricha highway was stopped.

The students said that the protest march started from the front of the Mahua stage adjacent to the university’s arts and humanities faculty building. A few teachers also joined the march of the protesting students. The protest was held by the students as part of the central program of the anti-discrimination student movement. At this time, the protestors can be heard chanting different slogans.

Jabi coordinator of anti-discrimination student movement, Abdur Rashid Jitu, said, “If the hall is not opened within 24 hours, we will go on a tougher and tougher movement.”

Earlier, the agitating students took position in front of the Jabir administration building around 11 am. They also gave a 24-hour ultimatum to the administration to open the hall.

Jabi students protested by blocking the road

On the other hand, the protestors are protesting on the road in various places including Uttara of the capital. They have been protesting by blocking the road since Saturday morning. A large number of police and BGB members have been deployed in these areas to prevent any untoward situation.

Students started gathering in front of Jamuna Future Park in Pragati Sarani area of ​​the capital around 1:15 pm. At one point, they suddenly got down on the main road. This stopped the traffic in Pragati Sarani.

Earlier, students of East-West and BRAC universities started protesting around 11 am. Later, the students of the nearby universities and colleges began to gather in piecemeal processions. Around 1.30 pm at least 3000 students gathered and started protest rally.

Students and parents started gathering at Sciencelab intersection from 12 noon. Pedestrians, rickshaw pullers and people of different classes and professions are showing solidarity in the movement of ordinary students.

Students have also taken up positions at Jatrabari, Shantinagar, Rampura, Merul Badda, New Bazar, Mirpur-10 and Kuril Bishwa Road. Students clashed with the police at different places in the capital.

Apart from this, there was a massive clash between students and the police during the protest march of the anti-discrimination student movement at Mauna on the Dhaka-Mymensingh highway in Sreepur, Gazipur. At that time, the agitated students vandalized the police box and set it on fire. It has been reported that traffic on Dhaka-Gazipur road has also been stopped due to this incident.
