The acting governor of the Central Bank of Libya, Abdel Fattah Abdel Ghaffar, discussed with the directors of public and private banks and their representatives the issue of disbursing salaries to the public sectors in the country on time, and addressing the liquidity shortage crisis.

In his meeting in Tripoli with a number of department directors at the bank, the acting governor discussed the mechanism for developing electronic payment systems in coordination with the relevant authorities.

Abdel Ghaffar stressed the need to open electronic clearing between banks in all parts of the country in an effective and urgent manner, in accordance with banking and legal procedures, and to coordinate with the Ministry of Interior to enhance the security of banks in all their branches.

Abdel Fattah Abdel Ghaffar also followed up on the procedures for unifying the Central Bank in an effective and professional manner, stressing that the bank’s board of directors will work to resolve all obstacles facing banking work.

The acting governor also discussed the coordination mechanism and banks’ contracting with expertise houses, employing competencies, and benefiting from international experiences in order to enhance the financial position of banks and develop them to provide the best services to citizens and facilitate them.

The Governor urged the need to enhance the principle of financial disclosure and transparency, and activate training programs for bank employees to work with professionalism and high efficiency to advance the banking sector.
