In the men’s 48 kg weight category, India’s Govind Sahani won the gold medal by defeating Thailand’s Nattapon Thumsaron 5-0. Similarly, in the 75 kg weight category, India’s Sumit won 5-0 over Thailand’s Pitabath Yasungnon and in the 54 kg category, India’s Ananda Pralhat won 5-0 to win the gold medal. Other Indian athletes Amit Panhal (52kg), Varinder Singh (60kg), Ashish Kumar (81kg) and Monica (48kg) lost in the final and had to settle for silver.
India has won a total of 10 medals in the boxing series, including 3 gold, 4 silver and 3 bronze. The Indian team has won 2 more gold medals than last year.
