Jaipur: Cases of mud collapse during buildings under construction are reported every day. Due to the negligence of the contractor, the lives of the workers remain in danger. A similar accident happened in Sanganer Sadar area of Jaipur on Sunday. A shed was being constructed near the main entrance of a house. The pit had been excavated and masonry work was going on. During this time the soil collapsed and three laborers got buried under the soil. One laborer died while two were injured in this incident.
FIR against landlord and contractor
29 year old Banwari Lal Bairava, a labourer, resident of Niwai, Tonk, died due to mud collapse. A report has been lodged at Sanganer Sadar police station on Sunday night on behalf of the deceased’s brother Kailash Bairwa. In this report, the landlord and the contractor were accused of forcibly getting the work done. Along with the deceased, two other laborers were buried in the soil. He had suffered minor injuries. Both were discharged after first aid. Those laborers say that the wall near Hod was very weak. The workers refused to work but the landlord and contractor forcibly got them into the pit and got the work done.
Banwari was a house builder
Kailash, brother of the deceased Banwari, says that Banwari was a house builder. He also used to build houses and do masonry work for the tank. He lived on rent in Gokul Vatika located in Sanganer with his mother, wife and two children. He had gone to masonry the tank along with two laborers Shivkumar and Jeevarakhan. The wall adjacent to the tank was in a dilapidated condition. In such a situation, Banwari refused to work but the contractor and the landlord forced him to work. While working, the soil collapsed and all three were buried under the soil.
Contractor and landlord absconding
Both the contractor and the landlord are absconding after the accident. Sanganer Sadar police station in-charge says that after the case was registered, the mobile numbers of both of them are also switched off. Both are being searched. On the other hand, post-mortem of the dead body has been done and handed over to the family members.
