San Antonio de Padua, whose feast is celebrated this June 13, has the title of Doctor of the Church for his profound teachings, useful for the faithful of all time. In his writings, he left several prayers that he composed to Jesus to ask for his grace and mercy.

Saint Anthony is represented with the Child Jesus in his arms because on one occasion he was seen contemplating in ecstasy a resplendent baby that he was holding in his arms. In addition, he had the blessing of perceiving the closeness of the Son of God before dying, because in that moment he said with a smile: “I see Our Lord coming.”

According to Italian Province of San Antonio de Padua of the Conventual Friars Minor, the saint wrote short prayers to Christ. Below are three prayers composed by Saint Anthony of Padua himself:

1.- Lord Jesus, do not hide your face from us, do not distance yourself from the temple of our hearts and do not enter into judgment for our sin.

Instill your grace in us, have mercy on our sins, deliver us from eternal death and take us to your kingdom, where with Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, we can see the day of eternity.

With your help, You who are worthy of all honor, power, praise and majesty forever and ever. Amen.

2.- Lord Jesus Christ, instill in us your grace with which to ask and from which to receive the fullness of true life.

Pray for us to the Father, so that he grants us a righteous faith that deserves to reach the place of eternal life.

With your help, You who are the beginning and the end, worthy of praise, admirable and ineffable forever and ever. Amen.

3.- Lord Jesus Christ, we ask you to give us love to You and to our neighbor, to make us children of light, to defend us from the falls of sin and from the temptations of the evil one, so that we can deserve to ascend to the light glorious of your face.
