A pro-Russian court has sentenced two British men and a Moroccan citizen to death for fighting in Ukraine. They were charged with espionage and terrorism. The three prisoners of war were tried by the Supreme Court of the Russian-held Donetsk People’s Republic.
Their lawyers said they would file a petition against the death penalty. The petitioner has one month to file the petition. The British government responded by saying it was concerned about the verdict. Prime Minister Boris Johnson’s office has called for the protection of prisoners of war under the Geneva Convention.
