Geomagnetic activity will increase this week due to intense solar flares. Over the past 24 hours, 10 class C and M flares have occurred, and scientists predict new class M flares on December 17, writes the Styler project

Scientists warn about magnetic storms, which can cause not only disruptions in communications, but also affect people’s health. Indicators of red-level magnetic storms have been observed since December 14, and for four days in a row scientists have indicated that a storm with a K-index of 5 is raging over the Earth.

  • December 18 – geomagnetic activity will reach a K-index level of 6, which corresponds to a strong storm. On this day, headaches, fatigue, sleep problems and increased irritability are possible.
  • December 19-20 – the storm will continue and activity levels will remain elevated.
  • December 21-23 – activity is expected to decrease to K-index 2, which indicates a stable magnetic field.

It is worth adding that all scientists’ forecasts are preliminary, since solar activity is very variable. The exact dates and intensity of storms may vary depending on solar activity.

Note that all storms caused by solar flares are classified by power level – from K-index 2 to K-index 9. The higher the K-index, the stronger its consequences. All storms above K-index 5 are red level storms. They can cause problems with satellite, GPRS, mobile or radio communications.

Most often on such days, people complain of deterioration in health, headaches, impaired concentration, and poor sleep.

People with chronic diseases and weakened immune systems are at risk.

To minimize the negative effects of the storm, adhere to the rules of a healthy lifestyle. On such days, you should avoid stress and heavy exertion. It is important to eat less fatty, fried, salty and spicy foods. Instead, eat more vegetables and fruits, doctors advise.

Give up coffee, cigarettes and alcohol. Drink more fluids – plain water or herbal teas.

Ventilate the room regularly and try to walk in the fresh air for at least a short time. If possible, go to bed at the same time of day and be sure to get enough sleep.

Previously, “Cursor” informed, why long sleep is dangerous for health. British scientists from Keele University conducted research and found out the consequences of sleeping more than normal, that is, over 8 hours.
