The Fox News network reported on a serious incident that occurred over the weekend. A carrier-based F/A-18 fighter from the US Navy aircraft carrier Harry Truman was nearly hit by “friendly fire” during an operation against Houthi targets in Yemen.

The incident occurred on the night from Saturday to Sunday, December 22. According to sources, the fighter crew had to make an emergency maneuver to avoid being hit by a missile fired by the allied forces. The operation at this point was aimed at suppressing the infrastructure of the Iran-backed Houthis.

Earlier, Cursor wrote that during airstrikes by the American military against Houthi positions in Yemen, a serious incident occurred involving an F/A-18 fighter. The guided-missile cruiser USS Gettysburg mistakenly opened fire on a fighter jet taking off from the aircraft carrier USS Harry S. Truman, US Central Command (CENTCOM) said.

Two pilots aboard an F/A-18 were shot down over the Red Sea. Both were rescued, but one suffered minor injuries. CENTCOM confirmed that the incident occurred as part of an operation that targeted Houthi targets in Yemen.

The attack, carried out by US forces on the evening of December 21, targeted a missile warehouse and control center belonging to the Iran-backed group. CENTCOM said the strikes should weaken the Houthis’ ability to attack American ships and merchant vessels in the southern Red Sea, the Bab al-Mandeb Strait and the Gulf of Aden.

During the operation, the US military also intercepted several drones and a Houthi anti-ship cruise missile over the Red Sea. However, CENTCOM has not commented on the recent rocket attack on Tel Aviv, for which the Houthis have claimed responsibility.
