Since the outbreak of hostilities between Israel and Palestinian factions, Morocco has become one of the countries with the most active protests against Israeli policies. While until recently Morocco maintained friendly relations with the Jewish state, the country is now experiencing growing hostility towards both Israel and the Jewish community. Mako reports.

Since the beginning of the conflict, more than 5,000 protests have taken place in Morocco in support of the Palestinians. There were also dozens of national marches and boycotts of companies collaborating with Israel.

Previously, thanks to the Abraham Accords, the country abolished visas for Israelis, which contributed to an increase in tourist flow. However, after October 7, the situation changed: flights between the countries were stopped, and attitudes towards Israeli tourists and the local Jewish community became sharply negative. Cases of attacks, discrimination and bribery have been recorded.

A poll conducted by Moroccan news portal Hespress found that 98.2% of respondents consider the Palestinian issue a priority for Muslims. More than 97% of participants approved of the October 7 attack on Israel as an act of resistance, and 96.9% called the Israeli army’s actions an aggression.

Anti-Israeli sentiment in the country is accompanied by calls for a severance of diplomatic ties and a boycott of goods associated with the Jewish state. Public pressure, coupled with the actions of protesters, could have an impact on future relations between Morocco and Israel.

Earlier, Kursor reported that the deputy head of Iran’s IRGC, Rear Admiral Ali Fadavi, said that Israel “will cease to exist in the coming years.” As the main reason, he cited Israeli actions in the Gaza Strip over the past 15 months, which, in his opinion, demonstrate “atrocities and cruelty.”
