In Syria, a new school reform has caused widespread public outcry. The public and Western media have expressed concern about changes in the educational program, which, in their opinion, have a pronounced “Islamist bias.”

This was reported by the Alexey Zheleznov Telegram channel.

According to updates published on the page of the Syrian Ministry of Education, a number of terms and concepts in textbooks have been significantly changed. For example, the phrase “the path of goodness” is replaced by “the Islamic path,” and Jews and Christians are now referred to in the texts as “the damned who have strayed from the true path.” The traditional concept of “hero of the fatherland” has been transformed into “martyr on the path of Allah.”

The reform also affected the natural sciences – the theory of evolution and the Big Bang theory were excluded from the school curriculum. History textbooks have erased references to the rule of Bashar and Hafez Assad, and also removed information about ancient religions that existed in Syria before the adoption of Islam.

Additionally, the interpretation of the Ottoman period has changed: instead of “Ottoman occupation,” textbooks now talk about “Ottoman rule,” which caused a positive reaction in Turkey.

Earlier, Cursor wrote that the conflict on the border between Syria and Lebanon continued.

Syria has imposed restrictions on the entry of Lebanese citizens after “skirmishes” on the border.
