Military expert, reserve colonel of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleg Zhdanov, shared his opinion on Vladimir Putin’s strategy for the coming months. He stressed that Russia is facing a growing economic crisis that could seriously undermine the Kremlin’s capabilities by the spring of 2025.

Economic crisis in Russia
Referring to the Bild publication, Zhdanov noted that Germany assumes that Putin will try to end the war in 2025 due to internal economic pressure. Key factors affecting Russia include rising interest rates, rising food prices and a weakening ruble.
The expert described the current situation in the Russian economy as a crisis that is already in full swing. According to him, despite the significant margin of safety of the state system, its decomposition can be gradual, but at some point develop into a sudden collapse. This, according to Zhdanov, is what makes Putin hurry up.
Dual tactics
Zhdanov noted that the Kremlin’s strategy includes both continuing attacks on Ukraine using Shahed drones and intimidating the international community. Putin alternates statements about the threat of using nuclear weapons with other aggressive attacks, but, according to the expert, his main goal is to freeze the conflict.
Freezing hostilities, according to Zhdanov, is necessary for the Kremlin to prevent a complete collapse of the Russian economy. Without this, the Russian army will be left without the necessary supplies – fuel, ammunition, medicine and food.
Conclusion
The expert emphasizes that the spring of 2025 will be a critical moment for Russia. Without successfully achieving his goals, Putin risks economic collapse and the collapse of his military campaign. In the meantime, Ukraine and the international community must remain prepared to increase pressure on the Kremlin to prevent the conflict from being frozen on terms favorable to Russia.
