Serious panic occurred on board a Volaris flight. A passenger flying to Tijuana (Mexico) broke into the cockpit in an attempt to redirect the plane to the United States. After tense moments, the crew was able to take control of the situation. The plane made an emergency landing in Guadalajara, Mexico. The passenger was handed over to local police.

According to the BBC, the passenger tried to physically change the direction of the flight. This forced the crew to use force, and the pilot urgently landed the plane at Guadalajara airport, against the wishes of the passenger.

Volaris said in a press release that “the crew acted in accordance with established safety standards and protocol.” The plane was diverted to Guadalajara, where the airline handed the passenger over to local authorities.

The passenger was detained by police and taken for questioning. So far, the circumstances of the incident remain unclear. However, the company emphasized that there was no threat to passengers and crew. “The airline apologizes for the inconvenience and emphasizes that the safety of passengers and crew remains its top priority,” Volaris said.
