Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan said Ankara is ready to launch an offensive against the YPG if the group is not disbanded and its fighters and leaders are not handed over to the authorities. He also stressed that the new Syrian regime must take responsibility for resolving this issue.

This was reported by The Times Of Israel.

Türkiye views the YPG as a terrorist organization linked to Kurdish militants fighting against the Turkish state. Ankara has repeatedly demanded that the United States stop supporting the YPG, which heads the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF). Türkiye has carried out military operations against the YPG in the past and has established control over some areas in northern Syria.

Following the overthrow of Bashar al-Assad by Turkish-backed rebels, Ankara demanded that the new Syrian leadership disband the YPG and expel foreign fighters and terrorists.

In an interview with CNN Turk, Fidan said that the Syrian administration must resolve this problem, but noted that this may take time due to the transition period in Damascus.

When Fidan was asked what Turkey would do if Damascus failed, he replied that Ankara was ready to take any necessary measures, including military action. According to him, if the Syrian side is unable to ensure control over the situation, Türkiye will be ready to intervene directly.

The SDF previously played a key role in defeating the Islamic State and continues to guard militants in prison camps. However, after the fall of the Assad regime, their positions were weakened. Fidan said that Türkiye is ready to take control of the management of these camps if the new Syrian leadership fails to cope with this task. President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has already given the corresponding order to the Turkish military.

Earlier, Kursor reported that Türkiye is becoming the main threat to Israel.
