32 drug traffickers convicted in Misurata

Misurata Criminal Court has convicted 36 defendants of deliberately trafficking in drugs and psychotropic substances in Misurata.

According to the Attorney General’s Office, the defendants deliberately set up shops to manage drug trafficking in the city’s Al-Qoushi area, after a campaign carried out by the judicial police officer.

The investigations resulted in the conviction of 34 defendants, two of whom were sentenced to 16 years in prison with a fine of 5,000 dinars each and the deprivation of their civil rights, in addition to two who were sentenced to 13 years in prison, and 10 others who were sentenced to 10 years in prison with a fine of 5,000 dinars and the deprivation of their civil rights.

The court also imposed an 8-year prison sentence on 7 defendants, with a fine of 3,000 dinars, in addition to two others who were sentenced to 5 years in prison and a fine of 3,000 dinars, and were deprived of their civil rights.

The court also sentenced 7 defendants to 18 months in prison, in addition to a fine of 1,000 dinars, in addition to 6 months in prison for two other defendants.

According to a publication by the Attorney General’s Office, the court acquitted 4 defendants of the charges against them, and ordered the confiscation of firearms, means of transportation used in the transport and trade of narcotics and alcohol, and tools used in their use.

The court also ordered the publication of the ruling three times at the expense of the convicted persons and obligated them to pay the costs of the lawsuit.
