Officials of the Cultural and Tourism Development Fund (FDCT) organized this Tuesday, June 13, 2023, a ceremony for the symbolic presentation of checks to the 33 beneficiaries of the call for specific projects, which they launched in the Hauts-Bassins region. . The said ceremony took place at the Hauts-Bassins Regional Council.

Launched on February 21, many cultural promoters applied for this call for projects specific to the Hauts-Bassins region. A total of 113 files were received by the FDCT. For the minister in charge of culture, Jean-Emmanuel Ouédraogo, this enthusiasm is a sign of the interest and strong expectations of cultural actors with regard to the FDCT.

In the end, 33 projects were selected for funding, including 20 projects concerning the strengthening of technical capacities and the operationalization of actors; 07 projects aimed at promoting cultural tourism and 06 projects relating to support for the creation, promotion and dissemination of cultural products. On the financing side, a total of more than 325 million FCFA was distributed among the 33 beneficiaries.

“We are convinced that this program brings a breath of fresh air to the sector which is today greatly affected by insecurity”declared Jean-Emmanuel Ouédraogo, while challenging the beneficiaries to be diligent and serious in the execution of their projects.

With a view to providing beneficiaries with the necessary tools for effective and efficient management of funds, the Minister in charge of culture has hinted that training sessions will be organized for their benefit on June 14, 15 and 16. 2023, on the management of the resources that will be granted.

The beneficiaries of the funding, meanwhile, do not hide their joy and satisfaction with this project. Jules Palenfo is one of them. Of the 18 million required for his project to produce television series, he obtained 15 million from the FDCT, a salutary act according to the person concerned.

It should be noted that this call for projects is part of the Support Program for Creative Industries and Cultural Governance (PAIC GC), partly funded by the European Union. Wolfram Vetter, the ambassador, head of the European Union delegation in Burkina, said he expected this project to strengthen the capacities of the actors, more visibility and more professionalism. He also expressed the wish that the project could be extended to other regions of Burkina Faso.
