A total of 35 drivers who got behind the wheel after consuming alcohol were identified for the past day, the Ministry of Internal Affairs announced. Of these, 15 were driving after consuming alcohol from 0.5 to 1.2 per thousand, and 20 – with more than 1.2 per 1000, four refused testing.
Six drivers were found to be driving under the influence of narcotic substances or their analogues, two refused testing.
A total of 10,812 motor vehicles (MOVs) were checked as part of the specialized police operation for compliance with the Road Traffic Act. 12,218 drivers and passengers were checked. 2,672 slips and 553 acts were drawn up for established administrative violations.
Emphasis in the action is the prohibition of driving by drivers who have consumed alcohol, narcotic substances and/or their analogues, as well as driving of motor vehicles by unlicensed drivers.
One person died and 24 were injured in 17 serious accidents in the country over the last 24 hours, the Ministry of the Interior announced earlier today. One serious and 12 minor road accidents took place in Sofia, in which one person was injured.
