The director of the Fire Department, Baltazar Solano, reported that so far this year, more than 350 vehicle fires have been extinguished, an increase compared to last year, 2023.
The head of the Fire Department said that these types of incidents are caused, in most cases, by defects in motor vehicles.
“Our statistics for 2023, from January 1 to September 9, indicate that we intervened in 329 fires, where we attended to cars, motorcycles, buses and others; in 2024, during the same period, we recorded 358 vehicle fires. That is, we have an increase of 9%, compared to last year,” explained the head of the Fire Department.
In addition, after the intervention to put out the fires, it was determined that most of these vehicles had significant dents and damage to the electrical system that caused the fire, the official said.
