From the 22nd to the 28th of August, the 35th edition of Kinoforum – São Paulo International Short Film Festival. The festival offers 30 free sessions, showing a selection of Brazilian and international films from different genres, providing a current list of world cinema. Among the films shown is the documentary Mom Africa in Sao Paulodirected by the alumnus of the International Cinema Academy (AIC), Rafael Aquino.

In this edition, the Kinoforum shows 287 films from 66 countries and 14 Brazilian states, distributed in different shows such as International, Latin America, Brazil, Children, Youth, Action and Horror.

CineSesc, one of the festival sites, shows films that participate in major international festivals, such as Cannes, Locarno, Toronto e Clermont-Ferrand. The program also showcases productions made by women, including animations Mãtãnãg, the enchantedof Difficult advice e Charles Bicalhoe Ópá De Ósun: When All All Is Bornof Pamela Peregrino.

In this edition, there are also Special Programs that expand the cinematic views of the main axes of the festival. The Conexão África exhibition stands out, which brings together different African productions. For children, the festival offers CineClubinhowith a free viewing of the children’s show on the 25th, at 3pm. Before that, at 2pm, there will be an experience so that children can imagine the forest and enchanted nature, celebrating the home of August.

A documentary produced at AIC was selected for the festival

History book Mama – Africans in São Paulodirected by Rafael AquinoAlumnus of the International Cinema Academy (AIC), has been selected for the festival. The film, the result of the AIC Documentary course, shows the life of Diamou Fallou Diopknown as Mama África, a Senegalese woman whose story reflects the culture of the African people in São Paulo, influencing the migrant flows in the city and in Brazil.
