36% of Ecuadorians used AI in their daily tasks at work – La Nación

According to the new regional study by Multitrabajos, the leading employment portal in Latin America, called AI at work: how useful is it?In the country, 36% of Ecuadorians use Artificial Intelligence in their daily tasks, likewise, 56% consider that this implementation is useful and 91% responded that in the future the use of AI will be more common in work tasks.

What is happening with the use of AI in other countries in the region? 36% of workers in Chile use AI at work, 32% in Panama and 31% in Argentina. On the other hand, Peru ranks as the country that uses AI the most at work with 49%.

AI at work: how useful is it? This is a regional study by Multitrabajos carried out on workers and HR specialists. 21,964 people participated in the study: 7,927 from Ecuador, 3,158 from Argentina, 3,754 from Chile, 2,622 from Panama and 4,503 from Peru. The research explores how the use of Artificial Intelligence is incorporated into the daily tasks of talents in general and of Human Resources professionals in particular, what its challenges are and what its benefits are.

How do Ecuadorian talents incorporate Artificial Intelligence in their tasks? 36% to automate repetitive tasks, another 36% to provide consultations regarding daily concerns; 28% to improve interaction with digital environments; and 27% to solve everyday problems.

Although only 36% of respondents in Ecuador used AI in their work, 56% find it useful to incorporate it in their daily tasks. The trend is repeated in the rest of the countries in the region.

The frequency with which Ecuadorians use artificial intelligence in their work is 33% almost every day; 29% once a week; 27% daily and 11% once a month.

Those who said they would not incorporate AI at work said they did not do so because: their organizations do not allow it (35%); they like to do their jobs without incorporating Artificial Intelligence (28%); they cannot get used to it (17%); because they do not consider it necessary (16%) and (9%) because they do not get along with technology.

When it comes to the benefits of using AI at work, 45% believe that it saves time; 37% that it speeds up tasks; 31% that it automates repetitive tasks; and that information can be accessed quickly; 27% that it provides greater efficiency; 26% that it optimizes processes; 19% that it can analyze complex data and reduce human errors; 15% that it enhances content innovation; 14% that it reduces operating expenses; 13% that it personalizes services; 8% that it does things that humans cannot and that it stands out from the competition.

What about the challenges? 35% consider the main challenge to be that talents do not lose their jobs; 30% not being 100% dependent on AI; 24% data security; 23% having the necessary resources for the implementation of AI; 21% maintaining human criteria when performing tasks; 16% that talents do not become robots; 14% that teams understand and know how to use AI; 13% loss of work productivity due to using AI; another 13% limitations to human creativity; 12% integration into existing systems and processes; 10% the need for data to be accurate and not biased for AI to work well; 9% resistance to change by talents and organizations; 7% that talents cannot get used to it.

And what are the disadvantages of using Artificial Intelligence in work tasks? Loss of jobs (42%); dependence on AI (35%); lack of empathy, understanding and human intuition (26%); errors due to lack of information (25%); limited interaction (19%); difficulty in making ethical decisions (17%); the costs of implementing and maintaining AI (16%); depersonalization of customer service (13%); algorithmic biases that can lead to discriminatory or unfair decisions (10%).

When asked about the future of AI, 91% say they believe it will become more common for work tasks. When asked if Artificial Intelligence will replace human work, 52% think so.

44% of HR specialists use AI to create job search ads

54% of HR experts believe that the use of AI is useful, on the other hand, 38% believe that the use of Artificial Intelligence is useful, but it depends on what it is used for, and finally 8% consider that it is not useful. This means that 92% have a positive perception of its usefulness.

Although most HR professionals consider Artificial Intelligence useful, only 43% currently use it in the talent recruitment or selection process. A similar trend is repeated in the rest of the region: in Peru 44%; in Chile 35%; in Argentina 31% and in Panama 27%.

Among the main activities for which HR specialists use AI are: creating job search ads (44%); optimizing candidate searches (40%); analyzing resumes or profiles (36%); planning candidate interviews (30%); creating a candidate analysis (28%); and selecting candidates (19%).

In Ecuador, 94% of HR professionals believe that the use of AI will be more common in the future. The trend is repeated in the rest of the region: in Peru and Chile, 95% think so; in Argentina and Panama, 93%.
