DAKAR, July 18 (APS) – The Special Customs Brigade at the Blaise Diagne International Airport (AIBD) seized 36 packages of cocaine weighing 40.3 kilograms, equivalent to 3 billion 200 million CFA francs, we learned from a customs source.
This new seizure of cocaine was made last Sunday, the Customs Communications and Public Relations Division said in a statement on Wednesday, stressing that “the drug was carefully placed in two suitcases belonging to a woman of French nationality who was heading to Europe.”
According to the press release, “The positive test for cocaine carried out by customs agents was confirmed by the National Drug Analysis Laboratory of the Technical and Scientific Police.”
The accused has been arrested, adds the same source, ensuring that “the process is doing its job”.
The Customs Communications and Public Relations Division explains that the seizure follows “the judicious exploitation of information relating to the services of the High Authority of Airports (HAAS) of Senegal.”
She recalls that this is the second seizure of drugs meant for export made by the Special Customs Brigade of the AIBD after June 8, 2024, involving twenty (20) kilograms of cocaine.
