Manta, Manabí. On the morning of this Thursday, February 15, the President of the Republic, Daniel Noboa Azin, toured the La Resbalosa road, in the Las Piñas – La Resbalosa – Santa Rosa section, and its four enabled critical points.

“This is an important step for the development of Manabí,” said the President. while highlighting that, in addition to resolving security issues, his government is concerned with implementing actions that promote the progress of citizens. The first-level road infrastructure is operational and at the service of citizens.

The Minister of Transportation and Public Works, Roberto Luque, explained that this road was affected by natural events such as flooding and waves, so for a period there was only one lane for vehicular traffic. However, Luque indicated, this situation was resolved in a short time. The authorization of critical points was even expanded from three, as was in the initial document, to four through a complementary contract.

This intervention includes the construction of breakwater walls, slope protections and drainage works in the critical sites identified in the 1.12 km long sectors of Santa Rosa, La Resbalosa and Las Piñas. His intervention had an investment of USD 3.1 million (including VAT) benefiting 367,000 citizens.

President Noboa Azin highlighted that these works are an example of the joint work between the different levels of government. ““We all want this province to move forward, for there to be work, for there to be no crime, for young people to have access to education, for families to have food and for there to be peace,” said Noboa..

Along these lines, the Minister of Transportation and Public Works stressed that “the most important thing is that these works are at the service of connectivity,” and added that “it is planned to build the entire road, from the entrance to Manta, to connect the road from Santa Elena to Manta”, which will have a positive impact on Tourism.

Additionally, he anticipated that as part of the government’s commitment to Manabí. “The Secretary of Public-Private Investments is contemplating the Vía Manta – Quevedo and Montecristi – La Cadena, to connect Guayas with Manabí in a model of

concession”, this thanks to the Organic Law of Incentives for Public-Private Associations approved by the National Assembly.

Finally, the President assured that major works are planned for the country, among them, the Fifth Bridges in Guayas, the Machala – Guayaquil highway, among others. “We mentioned all that in the campaign. First we have to attend to the urgent; then what is important and then what is necessary (…).

We started by solving security problems, but we must provide medium and long-term solutions to Ecuadorians. For that, works and progress are needed,” concluded the President of the Republic.
