Dubai: Ganja seized from passenger who arrived at Dubai International Airport. 37 kg of ganja was found in his luggage. An African native was arrested.

While checking the luggage through the X-ray system at the airport, the bag felt extra heavy. The customs officials got suspicious and opened the passenger’s two bags in front of him. When the bags were opened, it was found that cannabis was hidden inside two plastic bags along with food items.

17 kg ganja was seized from the first bag and 20 kg ganja from the second bag. The suspect was then taken into custody. He was later handed over to prosecutors for questioning. Director of Passenger Operations Department Ibrahim Kamali said that along with food items, spices and dried fish, narcotics are smuggled in. This is to avoid the smell of drugs.

At the same time, a large quantity of drugs was seized in Kuwait the other day. Home Ministry officials seized 335 kg of hashish and 10 lakh captagon pills. Narcotics with a market value of 20 lakh Kuwaiti dinars were seized.

First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Talal Khalid Al Ahmad Al Sabah, Minister of Commerce and Industry Masin Al Nahed and other senior officials inspected the seized drug stockpile. The Ministry of Home Affairs said that they tried to smuggle so many drugs into the country through sea and land routes.
