“High risk”: Google has fixed 38 security holes in its Chrome browser – one of them is being actively exploited. Users should react quickly.

Google has released version 128 of its Chrome internet browser, closing 38 security holes, as the company announced on its blog. One of the security holes is already being actively exploited, reports the IT magazine “heise online”. Chrome users should therefore hurry up and update their browser.

Google has classified the vulnerability with the designation “CVE-2024-7971” as having a “high” risk. The same applies to six other vulnerabilities. Google has marked nine vulnerabilities as “medium” and four as having a “low” security risk. There is no information about the other vulnerabilities.

The update released by Google brings the Chrome browser to version 128.0.6613.84/.85 for Windows and Mac and 128.0.6613.84 for Linux. Users should hurry up and update the program.

In most cases, Chrome updates automatically when users close and reopen the browser. However, updates can also be performed manually.

If you are not yet using the current versions of the Internet browser, you should urgently install the new version.

We explain here where you can see the current version number and how to start a manual update of the browser:

The open tabs and windows are saved by the browser and will open automatically when you restart it. If you do not want to restart the browser immediately, click “Not now”. The update will then be installed the next time you start the browser.
