Data for Friday 22 October. Brusaferro: Situation under control. The positivity rate is stable at 0.8% with 487,218 swabs. Admissions: +4. Intensive care: -13

I am 3,882 new cases of coronavirus in Italy (yesterday there were 3,794, here the bulletin). It goes up like this at least 4.557.247 the number of people who have contracted the SARS-CoV-2 virus (including recovered and died) since the outbreak began. THE deaths today I’m 39 (yesterday there were 36), for a total of 131,763 victims from February 2020. People recovered or discharged they are altogether 4.528.065 e 3.861 those that came out of the Covid nightmare today (3,673 yesterday). The positive current – the subjects who have the virus – turn out to be in everything 73.729, equal to -21 compared to yesterday (+82 the day before).

The swabs and the scenario

I total swabs (molecular and antigenic) were 487.218, or 87,453 less than yesterday when it was 574,671. While the rate of positivity
stable at 0.8% (the approximation of 0.79%); yesterday it was 0.7% and Wednesday it was 0.8%. Here is the map of the contagion in Italy.

More infections in 24 hours than yesterday. From the comparison with last Friday (October 15) – the same day of the week – when they were recorded +2,732 almost, there is still a small increase in new infections, probably due to a large amount of swabs processed daily *. The trend of the inflection curve for four days, but we are still below the threshold of 4-5 thousand new infected (today the curve should be at its weekly peak). There is no improvement, but we are limiting the circulation of the virus, even compared to what is happening in other countries such as the United Kingdom.

Both the Rt index and the incidence are slightly increasing, according to the latest ISS monitoring: the first parameter rises slightly and stands at 0.86 compared to 0.85 the week before and 0.83 two weeks ago, remaining however below the epidemic threshold, while the incidence grows to 34 cases per 100 thousand inhabitants (it was 29 per 100 thousand). Here, too, the data could be conditioned by the amount of tests. So much so that Silvio Brusaferro, speaks of a situation under control, commenting on the report. Italy is still in a situation of pandemic control – underlines the president of the ISS – and has the most controlled incidences compared to the EU, while in other countries there is a rise in positivity. As for deaths, mortality shows a slight increase even if we are talking about limited numbers, says Brusaferro.

The increases in the Rt index and incidence need not worry, according to Matteo Bassetti, director of the Infectious Diseases Clinic of the San Martino Polyclinic in Genoa. These are data to be monitored – he commented – but let’s look at the hospitals where the Covid wards are almost empty.

Three regions over 400 new infected, I’m there Campania which communicates +450 cases with a 1.8% rate calculated on 24,350 swabs, the Lazio with marks +408 cases with rate 1.2% and the Sicily which registers +400 with a 2.9% rate. To have processed the largest number of regional tests of the day there Lombardy
which thanks to over 97 thousand swabs has identified +381 positives (rate 0.4%).

The victims

The death toll is almost stable: there are 39, three more than yesterday. There are five regions with zero bereavement, plus the province of Bolzano: Friuli-Venezia Giulia, Liguria, Basilicata, Molise and Valle d’Aosta. While the highest number of deaths in Campania (8) and Sicily (6, of which 5 were previous as indicated in the note **)

The health system

Ordinary hospitalizations rise slightly and those in the critical area decrease. The beds occupied in ordinary Covid wards I’m +4 (yesterday -25), for a total of 2,443 hospitalized. The beds occupied in intensive care (TI) are -13 (yesterday +1) – this is the balance between the people who left and those who entered IT -, bringing the total of the most seriously ill patients to 343, with 22 entrances to resuscitation (yesterday 22).

I vaccinated

The vaccine doses administered are over 88,3 millions. Citizens who have completed the vaccination cycle are over 44,2 millions (81,84% of the population over 12). 46.3 million people (85.90% of vaccinables) have received at least one single dose. Here the map updated every evening and here the real-time data of the anti Covid-19 vaccines report on the government website.
