3G for entry from Tuesday: Antigen tests are also permitted

by time news

As announced by the government on Wednesday, the 3G rule will generally apply when entering Austria from Tuesday. In addition to PCR tests that are no more than 72 hours old, antigen tests that were taken no more than 24 hours ago are also permitted. This emerges from the regulation published on Saturday by the Ministry of Health. Excluded are antigen tests for personal use. Minors under the age of twelve do not need to provide 3G proof.

Children under the age of 12 do not need to provide 3G proof

The 13th amendment to the Covid-19 entry regulation comes into force on February 22, 00:00 a.m., according to the document. The validity of the vaccination is shortened from 270 to 180 days for those who have recovered and those who have been vaccinated afterwards. Any costs for one of the required proofs abroad must be borne by yourself, is stipulated in the regulation. Special regulations for commuters and school-age children were removed from the previous ordinance in favor of standardized requirements.

New virus variant areas are excluded from the 3G regulation. Those entering the country must credibly demonstrate that they have only been outside of these states or territories in the past ten days. Otherwise, registration and a ten-day quarantine are required. This quarantine is considered to be over as soon as a negative test result is available. The same provisions apply to minors up to the age of twelve as to the adult under whose supervision they are traveling. If the adult’s quarantine is considered to be over, the quarantine is also over for them. However, no regions are currently defined as virus variant areas.
