In partnership with the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Côte d’Ivoire (CCI-CI), the Consular Regional Association of Uemoa (CCR-Uemoa), on June 27 and 28, 2024 in Abidjan, organized the 3rd meeting to share the experience of the Chambers . Banking on a dynamic and competitive private sector that serves sub-regional economic growth, the Uemoa Regional Consular Association (CCR-Uemoa) prioritizes cooperation between consular institutions. To that end, the 3rd experience sharing meeting of the Chambers of Commerce and Industry (CCI) of the Union was held from 27 to 28 June. Objective: to create a framework for exchange and consultation with the Presidents of these Institutions, to strengthen south-south cooperation in order to improve the competitiveness of community businesses. After the 1st edition held in 2022 in Cotonou, and the 2nd edition in 2023 in Ouagadougou, this meeting allowed, among other things, to discuss the role of the CCIs in international trade by weighing goods for export. The management model of the dry port was discussed at the CCI-CI as well as a device management approach, especially the beacon tracking system, aimed at improving the competitiveness of Ivorian companies. The meeting was also an opportunity for participants to discuss the Abidjan exhibition center, emphasizing the need to find a balance between events with an international scope and events of a local nature. During the session, the participants had an intensive discussion on the economic situation of the Union, as well as the project to install Information and Assistance Offices to Facilitate Cross-Border Trade within the Member States (BIAFET-UEMOA). The West African Container Promotion Project (PPCAO) was also updated, by examining the conclusions of the study to define the strategy and operational model of the container wrap bond mechanism. On the sidelines of the meeting, the Presidents of the CCIs had the opportunity to visit key sites, especially the Port Authority and the Abidjan Exhibition Park. At the end of the session chaired by Kalilou Sylla, Director General of Commerce of Côte d’Ivoire, in the presence of the President of the CCR-UEMOA, Héléna Nosolini Embalo, and Faman Touré, President of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Minister of Commerce and Industry of the Ivory Coast , Souleymane Diarrassouba, Côte d’Ivoire, President and Vice Presidents of consular institutions also present.
