This session was chaired, on the Moroccan side, by Mr. Fouad Yazough, Ambassador, Director General of Political Affairs and, on the Brazilian side, by Mr. Carlos Sergio Sobral Duarte, Secretary for Africa and the Middle East at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
During this session, the two parties examined the state of bilateral relations and the means capable of giving them a new dynamic and providing them with renewed content in different sectors, particularly in terms of food security, agriculture, energy. renewable, environment, trade, justice, investment facilitation.
The discussions also focused on relations between Morocco and the Southern Common Market (Mercosur), which brings together, in addition to Brazil, Argentina, Paraguay and Uruguay.
The parties also examined the upcoming establishment of a direct maritime link between the two countries and the re-establishment of the direct air link.
Morocco and Brazil are committed to diversifying their trade and exploring new business niches, emphasizing the development of comparative advantages in the aeronautics sector so that Brazil, a global player in this cutting-edge sector invests in Morocco.
The two delegations also addressed regional issues of common interest, notably the development of Africa, with the continent’s food security as the main focus.
They noted a convergence of views for a stable and prosperous Africa, in accordance with the innovative and progressive vision of HM King Mohammed VI.
The two countries examined the possibility of coordinating joint actions and developing partnerships in order to promote investments in Africa and solidarity with its countries, which will not fail to release energies on both sides.
The Moroccan delegation presented to the Brazilian side the Atlantic Initiative, launched by HM the King, aimed at transforming this continental maritime space into a zone of peace, stability and development.
In addition to Mr. Yazourh, the Moroccan delegation was composed of the Kingdom’s Ambassador to Brazil, Mr. Nabil Adghoghi, Mr. Ismail Chekkouri, Director of Global Affairs, Ms. Nezha Attahar, Director of the Americas Department and Mr. Omar Rabi , Advisor to the office of the Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccans Living Abroad.
