A victory, Sunday evening on an urban field of Antwerp (Belgium), with the appearance of revenge for the French, one year after their terribly frustrating fourth place obtained during the Tokyo Olympics.
Myriam Djekoundade, Laëtitia Guapo, Hortense Limouzin and Marie-Eve Paget largely mastered their final against helpless Canadians. Unable so far to do better than a third place in the World Championships, France strikes a blow, two years before the Olympic Games in Paris.
Girls like boys, a good omen for Paris 2024
3×3 basketball, a team discipline of three players competing on a half-court, made its appearance on the Olympic program during the last Tokyo Olympics, won in the women’s category by the United States. In Paris, the competition will take place on the Place de la Concorde (VIIIth arrondissement).
In the men’s tournament, the French won the match for third place and the bronze medal against the Belgians at home (18-17), after extra time. Absent from the first Games in their discipline, the French offered their third medal in the World Cup after silver in 2012 and bronze in 2017. As Paris 2024 approaches, the tricolor 3×3 basketball is doing tremendously well.
