Police have arrested 4 people for smuggling ration rice.
Vehicle testing
Nellai Civil Supplies Criminal Investigation Department Police Inspector Kottaichamy, Sub-Inspectors Saravanabose, Maheswaran and police conducted vehicle checks at various places in Nellai and Tenkasi districts yesterday to check the smuggling of ration rice.
A car came through the corner of Perumalnagar on the way to Baykulam when the vehicle was being checked at the Chinnamulaikkarapatti exemption. The car was stopped and tested and found to contain 1,800 kg of ration rice in 36 bundles. Police have registered a case and arrested Rajendran (20), son of Nagarakaj, of Anbu Nagar, Thiyagarajanagar, Palayankottai, who was driving the car.

In addition, a car was stopped and tested on the road from Panavadalichatra to Sankarankoil with the exception of the research bar. It was found that 400 kg of ration rice was smuggled in 8 bundles. Police arrested 3 persons including Ishaq Raja (20) and Thalayuthu Thankaraj (29) of Palayankottai in connection with this.
21 bundles of ration rice smuggled in a mini lorry were seized on the road from Thirumalaiyappapuram to Venkatampatti near Kadayam in Tenkasi district. Police have registered a case against Sellathurai and Pukal from Mayilappapuram and are searching for them.
