4-H Dairy Show at the Minnesota State Fair: A Showcase of Skills and Bonding with Cows

by time news

Saturday at the Minnesota State Fair was a day filled with excitement and entertainment, with one of the highlights being the 4-H Dairy Show. 5 EYEWITNESS NEWS reporter Kelsey Christensen had the chance to catch up with the 4-H’ers as they prepared for the highly anticipated event.

The dedicated participants woke up bright and early, around 3 or 4 a.m., to ensure that their cows were in perfect condition for the competition. They spent hours giving their cows a trim and making sure they were in tip-top shape, as the judges were looking for healthy and good-looking animals.

The 4-H’ers came from different parts of the state, each bringing their prized cows to showcase the skills they have acquired through their involvement with 4-H. One competitor, Shelby Swanson, expressed her deep bond with her calf, describing her as her “little bestie” and comparing the experience to raising a child. She highly recommended the 4-H experience to everyone.

If you unfortunately missed the 4-H Dairy Show, don’t worry! You still have a chance to check out the winners. Head over to the dairy barn at the fair, where you can see the top performers and admire their incredible achievements.
