4 indigenous referees for the FIFA World Cup

Doha: Four local referees have been selected for the World Cup in Doha, Qatar. Abdul Rahman Al Jassim (Referee), Talib Al Marri, Saud Ahmed Al Makhlaha (Assistant Referees) and Abdullah Al Mari (Video Match Official) were selected by FIFA’s Refereeing Committee. 36 referees, 69 assistant referees and 24 video match officials have been selected.

Of these, 3 key referees and 3 assistant referees are women. For the first time in FIFA’s World Cup history, women referees will be involved. Referees are selected based on their performance in FIFA tournaments and other international and domestic competitions.

The FIFA World Cup will be held in eight venues in Qatar from November 21 to December 18. Preparations for the first FIFA World Cup in the Middle East and the Arab world, hosted by Qatar, are in the final stages.
