Baghdad/Al-Masala Al-Hadath: The number of major international shipping companies that announced the suspension of the transit of their ships in the Red Sea until further notice increased after Yemeni forces targeted ships carrying goods to Israel.

The American website Axios reported that the arrival of commercial ships to the port of Eilat has almost completely stopped as a result of the Yemeni attacks.

Amid the escalation in Yemeni forces’ targeting of ships linked to Israel in the Red Sea, the number of international shipping companies suspending their flights through the Bab al-Mandab Strait is increasing, deepening the Israeli economic crisis.

In this context, Mediterranean Shipping Company MSC, the largest container shipping company in the world based in Switzerland, announced that it would stop using the Suez Canal after Yemeni forces targeted one of its Israeli ships in the Bab al-Mandab Strait.

The French shipping group CMA CGM had previously stopped the transit of all container shipments from the Red Sea following the targeting of commercial ships belonging to the Israeli entity in the region.

The Danish Maersk and German shipping companies Hapag-Lloyd had announced the suspension of the passage of their ships in the Red Sea in light of the targeting of them by Ansar Allah forces against the backdrop of the Israeli aggression on Gaza.

These companies reported that some services would be redirected to pass through the Cape of Good Hope instead, referring to the southern tip of Africa.

About thirty percent of the world’s container ship traffic passes through the Red Sea and the Suez Canal, which are also major routes for oil shipments.

The Ansar Allah group vowed to target ships owned or operated by Israeli companies in solidarity with Palestine against the backdrop of the ongoing Israeli aggression against the Gaza Strip since the seventh of last October.

In addition, the American website Axios reported that the arrival of ships to the port of Eilat in southern Israel has stopped almost completely due to attacks by Ansar Allah forces in the Red Sea, adding that ships heading to the occupying entity from Asia are now taking a route that circles Africa, making the journey longer by three weeks. And more expensive.

Economic experts in the Israeli entity warned of stopping shipping operations to Israel via the Red Sea and rising prices of goods.

They pointed out that this means circling Africa, which will lead to extending the delivery times for goods from two weeks to a month and thus paying an additional cost ranging from four hundred thousand to one million dollars per ship.
