The Ambulance and Emergency Service confirmed that 4 people were killed in armed clashes last night at the western entrance to the city of Zawiya.
Armed confrontations erupted between the First Support Battalion of the Zawiya Security Directorate and the Stability Support Service branch in the city of the Ministry of Interior of the Government of National Unity, following a dispute between armed men that ended in the death of one of them, which prompted the elements of the First Support Battalion to attack the Stability Support Service positions.
Light and medium weapons were used in these clashes, which led to the damage of a number of buildings and the death of 4 people, including civilians, after shells fell on their homes.
The Emergency Medicine and Support Center, Al-Gharbia branch, evacuated about 30 families who were stuck in the areas of clashes, and provided safe paths for their exit, after declaring a truce between the conflicting parties.
Earlier, the first deputy head of the Council of Elders and Notables of Al-Zawiya, Juma Al-Jilani, told Panorama that there are efforts with the warring parties to establish an immediate and permanent cease-fire in the city and to preserve the blood of civilians.
