The cost has increased by Tk 47 crore 71 lakh 49 thousand 330 in separate four packages of multi-storied residential building construction project for cleaners of Dhaka North City Corporation in Gabtali of the capital. The Cabinet Committee on Public Procurement has approved the proposal to increase the cost of projects implemented by the Local Government Department.
The proposals were approved on Wednesday (July 3) in the first meeting of the new fiscal year and the 17th meeting of 2024. Finance Minister Abul Hasan Mahmud Ali presided over the meeting and committee members, senior secretaries of cabinet departments, secretaries of related ministries and senior officers were present. At the end of the meeting, the Secretary of Coordination and Reform of the Cabinet Department highlighted various aspects of the approved proposals. Mahmudul Hossain Khan.
The secretary said, ‘For the construction of a multi-storied residential building (3rd revised) project for the cleaners of Dhaka North City Corporation in Gabtali City Village, an agreement was signed with the contractor company Banga Builders Limited for Tk 49 crore 49 lakh 25 thousand 661. According to the contract, as the work drawings, design changes and non-tender items are included, an additional expenditure of 13 crore 4 lakh 16 thousand 651 taka has increased due to the variation. The reason for this is that, under the package, drawing and design changes of the 15-storey building under construction, addition of fire extinguishing system, change of electrical works, addition of drains and sidewalks, change of location of electrical sub-station and 84 non-tender items have been added.
He also said that the committee approved the construction work variation proposal of package number W-03 of the same project when it was presented for approval. The cost of this package was estimated at 49 crore 48 lakh 16 thousand 461 taka. As per the contract, the committee has approved the proposal to increase the cost of additional 11 crore 61 lakh 47 thousand 995 rupees due to the inclusion of work drawings, design changes and non-tender items while the work is in progress.
The secretary said that the committee has also approved the construction work variation proposal of package number W-04 of the same project. According to the contract, an additional increase of Tk 13 crore 75 lakh 5 thousand 658 has been approved in the purchase proposal due to the inclusion of work drawings, design changes and non-tender items while the work is in progress.
The same project package number W-5 construction work variation proposal has also been approved, said Md. Mahmudul Hossain Khan. Here the committee has approved the proposal to increase the expenditure by an additional 93 million 79 thousand 26 taka.
