4 rare monkey cubs smuggled from Malaysia to Chennai airport seized

They were shocked to see the presence of 4 rare species of monkeys such as De Brazza’s monkey living in the swamp forests of Central Africa, Mantat keresa monkey living in countries like Nigeria, Kenya, Uganda, Spider monkey living in Central and South America, Mexico and Brazil.

Also, the wildlife department of India should have permission and certificates to bring it to India without restriction from the International Department of Wildlife Protection.

4 baby monkeys were confiscated as they did not have any certificates. Later, when officials of the Central Wildlife Crime Branch in Chennai visited, they were found to be of a rare variety.

Officials said that it has been decided to send the baby monkeys back to Malaysia.
