London: Wimbledon, the third Glanslam tennis tournament of the season, has won a record prize money this year. The total prize money is 40 40.3 million (approximately 393 crore 5 lakh Indian rupees). The men’s and women’s singles champions will receive 2 million (Rs 19.51 crore) each. Last year’s total prize money was 35 million. This time the spectators were allowed entry. Meanwhile, the WTA and the ATP have decided that Wimbledon performances will not be considered at the player’s ranking points, as Russia has banned players from Belarus following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. The Wimbledon tournament runs from June 27 to July 10.
