The High Court has refused to stay the government’s decision on the hijab issue. In this context, the March 28 SSLC The government had announced that the elections would begin and that participants would not be required to wear the hijab.

In this situation, when the examination started yesterday, some Muslim students came to write the examination wearing hijab. They were sent back by the examiners.

It is reported that most of the Muslim students did not wear hijab to write the exam and when asked about it, they were told inside the exam room that the exam was more important to them than wearing hijab.

About 21 thousand people who qualified to write the exam yesterday did not come to write the exam. Similarly, the number of students who did not appear for the exam in 2021 was 3,700, but now the highest number of students are not coming to write the exam.

It is shocking that a large number of students did not appear for the exams as the Karnataka government has imposed strict restrictions on the hijab issue.

Forty Muslim students from Karnataka’s Udupi district boycotted the primary university exams on Tuesday.

Among those who boycotted the exam yesterday were 24 students from Kundapur, 14 from Byndoor and two from Udupi Government Girls Pew College in a legal battle over wearing hijab in classrooms.

The women had earlier boycotted the practical examination as well. At RN Shetty College, 13 out of 28 Muslim students took the exam. Some students came to the examination center wearing hijab but were denied admission.

Four out of five students appeared for the examination at Bandarkar College in Udupi, while all the students of Basroor Sharda College appeared for the examination. Six of the eight students of Naunda Government College dropped out of the exam.

Sources said some private colleges in the district have allowed students to write the exam wearing hijab.
